Is your troop game for an adventure?

In tabletop role-playing games, adventure is only a few dice rolls away.

Are your Girl Scouts ready to explore the kingdom of Elustra?

What's a Tabletop Role-Playing Game?

Tabletop role-playing games (or TRPGs) allow players to create characters and stories, often in a predefined setting or genre. Play-acting a unique character is a big part of such games, as each player takes on the role of a hero in the adventures they experience together. One player, the Game Master (or GM), is responsible for arbitrating rules, creating the basic storyline, and assuming the roles of all the creatures and characters the other players encounter.

The Benefits of TRPGs

TRPGs are Social

At least two players are required to play a tabletop role-playing game. A group of between 5 and 7 players (including a GM, or Game Master) is often ideal. During a game session, it is necessary for players to verbally communicate their ideas, thoughts, and intentions, and the friendships made at the gaming table can last a lifetime.

TRPGs Promote Problem Solving Skills

TRPG adventures and stories often involve puzzles, intrigue, and obstacles. To overcome such adversity, players must use their problem-solving abilities. The risks associated with trying a new solution can only impact the outcome of the RPG's story, but the lessons learned can have a profound impact on real life.

TRPGs Encourage Reading & Literacy

The vast majority of source material and rules pertaining to tabletop RPGs are found in books and other documents. This requires that players be willing and able to read, often at great length, increasing their vocabulary and comprehension.

TRPGs Foster Imagination & Creativity

All of the action in a TRPG takes place in the imaginations of the players. To "see" the events that occur, you must visualize them in your mind's eye. Designing unique characters and stories requires that players tap into the creative font within themselves. The only limit to such elements are the collective imaginations of the players who are involved.

TRPGs Develop Teamwork

To succeed in an RPG story, players must learn to work with one another as a team. Teamwork is crucial to their success, whether they'e crossing a fast-flowing river, avoiding a dangerous trap in a dungeon, or fending off the minions of an evil sorcerer.

TRPGs are Fun!

As games, TRPGs are intended to be entertaining and immersive. In conjunction with their social component, such games allow groups of friends to enjoy one another's company as they adventure in a fantasy world of their own choosing.
